About this Sunshine Coast project.
Relocation of a very old wedge-tailed eagle's nest measuring 2.8 metres in diameter within a highly protected indigenous area with scar trees and birthing trees in a highly significant location.
This project is part of our arboriculture capability, delivered across the Arboriculture in Sunshine Coast service area for Sunshine Coast Council.
Scope & highlights
What the job involved.
- 50 metre all-terrain travel tower and 100-tonne crane
- Bracing, wrapping and aerial rigging of a 1.2-tonne whole-tree canopy from approximately 46 metres high
- Nest relocation using a custom engineered, fabricated nest cradle fitted on top of a newly located 25-metre pole within the bush canopy
- Monitoring using numerous cameras for live-stream data to capture future use of the nest
